Latest update: The winner of this lottery died on 9th January 2018 just after two months of winning this lottery. Bishop passed away surrounded by her family, according to an online obituary. She was 51.

It was a life changing win for her that helped her with financial stress allowing her now to retire peacefully taking care of her health. Winning the jackpot wasn’t the only piece of good news she received as her chemotherapy is working for the first time since her battle with stage four breast cancer began in April 2016.
She believes that these two miracles are the power of prayer as she knows that the cancer is incurable but she can now turn her attention to fighting it full time.
Bishop as a single mother was unable to stop working at the convenience store she manages because government support barely covered her mortgage payments.
Sympathetic readers last year rallied and thousands of dollars were raised for Bishop to receive treatment in Toronto, and weeks later she she bought a lottery ticket from the same store she manages.
She was given two options: her win could be dispensed in annual payments of $100,000 for the next 20 years, or she could take a $1.5-million lump sum payment and she chose the latter. She will also be donating the money raised for her treatment to another cancer patient. Also the win also means that she can now afford treatment in her province, and can spend festivals with her family.
With the winning money she has purchased a new bed and recliner, both of which will help with the daily discomfort she experiences from her illness. She also plans to pay off her mortgage as well as her son’s.
