What are OLG Gift Cards and what are they used for?

OLG lottery corporation offers  Lottery Gift Cards which are a way to give your favourite lottery games as an exciting gift for every occasion!  Lottery gift cards are a new and convenient option for lottery gift giving. OLG offers two types of cards, one that is a single-use card and another that can be used over time.

Types of OLG Gift Cards

Lottery gift cards can be purchased at participating lottery retailers and hundreds of other locations including big box retailers and grocery stores.

There are two types of lottery gift cards available, the single-use LOTTO 6/49 and LOTTO MAX gift cards and the Lottery Gift Card, both of which can be found at thousands of retail locations across Ontario.

These gift cards were launched in October 2016 and the LOTTO 6/49 Gift Card is available for $20 and the LOTTO MAX Gift Card is available for $30. The LOTTO 6/49 and LOTTO MAX cards include one Quick Pick play plus ENCORE for five consecutive draws, with the same set of Quick Pick numbers for each draw. These cards are available at participating lottery retailers and at participating major big box retailers and grocery stores.

In November 2016, the Lottery Gift Card was made available and functions as a declining balance gift card. This card may be purchased in price increments of $1 ranging from a minimum of $5 to a maximum of $100 and redeemed for any lottery product or combination of products (Lotto, INSTANT and Sports). The Lottery Gift Card is sold at participating lottery retailers and only redeemable through lottery terminals.

Note that the Ottery gift cards are available for purchase by any consumer; however, the cards can only be redeemed at a lottery retailer by those 18 years of age and older as lottery gift cards are not lottery tickets. Retailers must verify the age of those redeeming the lottery gift card for a lottery product.

Lottery Gift Card

This gift card is valid for the purchase of any OLG Lottery game including Lotto, Instants and Sports. The Lottery Gift Card is available in your choice of any denomination from $5-$100, in $1 increments and comes with a complimentary card holder. Available for purchase at select OLG Lottery Retailers and can be redeemed at participating Lottery Retailers.

Lotto 649

This gift card is valid for a one-time redemption of one LOTTO 6/49 Quick Pick play + ENCORE for five consecutive draws. LOTTO 6/49 and LOTTO MAX Gift Cards are available at over 4,000 participating Ontario retail locations in existing gift card racks.

Lotto Max

This gift card is valid for a one-time redemption of one LOTTO MAX Quick Pick play + ENCORE for five consecutive draws. LOTTO 6/49 and LOTTO MAX Gift Cards are available at over 4,000 participating Ontario retail locations in existing gift card racks.

Note that all these lottery gift cards do not expire, cannot be reloaded and cannot be returned for cash.

How to redeem a lottery gift card?

All lottery gift cards can only be redeemed at more than 8,400 participating lottery retailers. Note that lottery gift cards cannot be redeemed at Shoppers Drug Mart, Shell and Petro Canada.

OLG Gift Cards can only be redeemed at participating Ontario lottery retailers. While cards can be given to someone in another province, the cards can only be redeemed in Ontario. This is similar to lottery tickets which can only be redeemed for prizes in the province/region where they are sold.

To redeem a lottery gift card, present the card to a lottery retailer who will scan the card, and print your tickets. You can redeem a gift card anytime you can buy or redeem a lottery ticket (normal draw break and terminal down times apply).

With a LOTTO 6/49 or LOTTO MAX gift card, you will automatically receive one Quick Pick play plus ENCORE for the next five consecutive draws, with the same set of numbers for each draw. With a Lottery Gift Card, you will need to tell the retailer which games you would like to play and how much of the gift card you would like to spend.

Also, remember on redemption, the LOTTO 6/49 and LOTTO MAX gift cards are valid for one play for the next five consecutive draws from the time you redeem your gift card. You can choose when to redeem the gift card, which will determine which five consecutive draws you play.

Also to check the balance of your Lottery Gift Card ask your Lottery Retailer, to scan it with the ticket checker.

To check the balance on your Lottery Gift Card, enter your Gift Card Number, PIN Number and Verification Value and click Check Balance here. You’ll find your Gift Card Number and PIN Number on the back of your Lottery Gift Card.
