Shabam! Shabam! Shabam!- Hey wait! It is not another Archimedes Principle but a lottery slang meaning – “Awesome Cool…We Won the Game”. ShaBam is the Atlantic Lottery daily lotto game that features two ways to win for $1; you can win instantly when you purchase a ShaBam ticket and on the daily draw portion.

The Atlantic Lottery Corporation (ALC) is an organization that operates lottery games in Atlantic Canada. ALC’s headquarters are located in Moncton, New Brunswick.  ALC was founded in 1976, shortly after the founding of government lotteries elsewhere in Canada. While ALC’s first games were only played on a regional basis, it quickly joined the Interprovincial Lottery Corporation, which offered national draws.

ALC in 1988 became the first lottery organization in the world to print a bar code on all draw and scratch tickets, allowing for instant verification of a prize. In 1990, they introduced the first legal video lottery terminals in Canada. Another first in North America was the introduction of PlaySphere in 2004, which allowed users to play the lottery over the Internet.

How to Play ShaBam

• You can play this lottery at Alc.ca online
• Sign in and under the “Draw” menu, click ShaBam. A play area will come up
• From the drop down menu, choose the number of ShaBam purchases you want. Each $1 play is eligible for both an instant win at the time of purchase and for the nightly draw.
• You can purchase for future draws by choosing the number of advance plays you want from the drop-down menu. You can play from 2 up to 10 consecutive draws. For an additional $1, you can add a TAG (ALC Add on Game) to your ticket. You can play TAG up to 2 times on each ticket.
• Once you confirm your purchase, a pop-up will appear to tell you if you won instantly. If you won on the instant portion, the pop will say ‘You Just Won $XX. ShaBam! Find out more’.
• Clicking on ‘Find out more’ you will be redirected to your transaction details page that will give you specific information on your instant win.
• If you did not win instantly, the pop up will say ‘Sorry, You did not win instantly on ShaBam. Good Luck on the Draw!’
• Your wager is considered official when it appears in your Transaction Detail as “completed”.
• You can print out your wager if you wish, but it’s not necessary. ALC will check your numbers for you! If you are a winner on either the instant component and/or the draw component, ALC will notify you by email and in your Messages link at ALC.ca.

Overall odds of winning a prize are 1:5.5
*For each draw, ALC reserves the right to limit the total amount of prizes payable in the 5 of 5 Winning Selection (Prize Level 1) to $100,000. If the limit is reached (or exceeded) for that prize category, prizes payable in that category will be determined by dividing the total prize amount for the category ($100,000) by the total number of winners for the category. Odds are based on the minimum wager.

How to Claim Prizes

On your winning Prizes are automatically added to your ALC.ca wagering account.

The following prizes are deposited or credited directly to your account:

• Cash prizes up to $9,999
• Free plays

Prizes that must be claimed at ALC Office: Cash prizes of $10,000 and over

• Any prizes that are automatically awarded to your account won on the same transaction as a prize that must be claimed at ALC office. For example, if you win merchandise and a free play on the same transaction, you must claim all prizes at ALC office.
• Also you can contact ALC at 1-800-561-3942 for more information on prizes.
• ALC’s Prize Office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (the office is closed during statutory holidays). When claiming a prize at ALC’s Prize Office, the holder of winning ticket must present two pieces of identification containing a current address and a current photograph.
• It is important to know that when claiming a prize, the holder of a winning ticket grants ALC the right to use his or her full name, city, province, prize amount, and current photograph. This information will be used for publicizing winnings and promoting lottery games.
